So let’s crunch the numbers.
The mass of the sattelites
With 20,000 satellites in orbit weighing in at around 500 kilos each we will see a total mass of around 10,000 tonnes of satellites out there.
That might seem like a lot, but trust us – it’s nothing compared to the gigantic mass of the earth, the earth’s magnetic field, the electromagnetic forces of the sun and the universe around us.
It’s just plain nothing in a universal or even planetary scale.
If we imagine that all 20,000 satellites would fire off their radiation max simultaneously, it would, with an average of 10 Watts per beam and 100 beams per satellite, add up to 20 MW.
That’s around the same energy as what two modern sea based windmill can produce.
And compared to solar storms that reach earth, constant lightning strikes and the earth’s own magnetic field it’s again really plain nothing.
